Anglo American take home gold at the Digital Impact Awards 2015
Last night London once again played host to the 2015 Digital Impact Awards, where Anglo American’s excellence in digital stakeholder engagement was recognised with two awards. The Gold award for the Best Evaluation Strategy as well as a Bronze award for the Best Corporate Website.
The awards programme is judged by a panel of digital communication experts from some of Europe’s biggest in-house companies, including representatives from ITV Studios, Deutsche Post DHL, KPMG UK and IBM Interactive Experience.
Anglo American plc has been a constituent of the FTSE100 since 1999 and is one of the world’s largest mining companies. With global operations across five continents, the corporate website is the hub for engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, spread globally.
Previously their website was overly large, with content buried or spread across the group site as well as the regional and operations sites.
As their corporate website provider of choice, we’ve helped Anglo streamline their corporate website, so the user journey is as intuitive as possible, while retaining all the content that was relevant to the wide range of operations.
The website has now been designed to have navigation that is shallow, so that all content is accessible easily from any starting point. The regional and operations sites have been revamped so that the overall look and feel is consistent across the entire web estate, with the Anglo American branding prominently featured.
Each regional or operations section of the website is now able to target content at the stakeholders that visit to view content specifically from that operation and all parts of the web estate are fully mobile responsive so that users have ease of access.
The Digital Impact Awards programme was established by Communicate magazine, the UK’s leading publication for corporate communications. The Awards are in their sixth year and set the industry-wide benchmark in digital stakeholder engagement. The event honours the best corporate digital communications work in Europe.
Brittany Golob, editor of Communicate magazine, said: “Digital plays a role in almost every communications campaign, but it is those that are pushing their limitations in the digital sphere, breaking down barriers and driving innovation, that the Digital Impact Awards celebrates. This year’s winners used digital to disrupt traditional communications platforms, changed the way the corporate website is perceived, made political change through digital communications, reached new audiences and new markets.”
We hope Anglo American are as proud of their success last night, as we are in having worked with them.
